There are tech events in London happening every day across the city celebrating the best in innovation and applauding the thriving startup scene. But one event in any startups calendar not to be missed is the MassChallenge UK Awards and Fun(d)raiser, sponsored by Swiss Re.
Now in its second year, MassChallenge UK is the most startup friendly accelerator on the planet, awarding promising startups the chance to win a share off zero- equity cash prizes.
We were lucky enough to go along last month to hear the winners be announced, whilst mingling with the likes of 400 others in the UK and European entrepreneurial community. And if that wasn’t enough London’s coolest warehouse space was filled to the brim with food trucks, entertainment and an abundance of startups!
MassChallenge announced £100,000 to six high-impact startups. The big winners on the night include White Lab who secured £30,000. The first and only patented allergen tracker for the home and office, White Labs has created a unique sensor using biochemistry and nanotechnology to identify allergens in the air. The other big winner was WeTrack, a project management and readiness software that allows event operators to plan, track and report event progress in one central system, deservedly winning £20,000.
The event was just the capstone on another record-breaking year with more than 449 applications in the UK. A great way to kick off 2017, the event highlighted the blossoming startup ecosystem that we know is only going to keep gaining momentum as the year goes on and we can’t wait to see more exciting and innovating startups come through the ranks.
