This festive day is celebrated every year with joyful open air festivities on the King’s Willem- Alexander birthday throughout The Netherlands.<\/p>\n
After putting our orange t-shirts on to show of pride for the Dutch Royal family, the House of Orange-Nassau, we boarded on a boat to cruise through the Amsterdam canals. We had a blast as we got to see the all the different festivities happening on the streets while having some drinks and canapes on board. After this, we went and joined the people in the streets to celebrate King’s Night. The streets were orange seas where DJs and artists performed while visitors enjoyed the day!<\/p>\n

The vrijmarkt (literally \u2018free market\u2019) gives everyone and their mum the chance to sell their second-hand things on the streets and parks of Amsterdam, creating one of the world’s largest flea markets.<\/p>\n And it\u2019s not only second-hand wares on offer – plenty of food stalls spring up to fuel your bargain hunting frenzy! The Dutch, expats and tourists alike flock to Amsterdam for a day of celebration. The fun traditionally begins on the eve of the big day (King\u2019s Night) with the carnival atmosphere continuing throughout the city on King\u2019s Day. DJs play parties on public squares, brightly decorated boats fill canals and live music spills onto streets from cafe patios. On King\u2019s Day, thousands of brightly decorated boats pack the narrow Amsterdam canals. The next best thing to being on one of the boats is watching – and dancing – from one of the many bridges.
